ARSE INTO GEAR

Wind, bubbles and the scent of burning explosives: these aren’t typical of the indoors. But, then, Cineworld’s 4DX cinemas don’t offer up an average movie-going experience. Eschewing the normal, stationary cinema seats for a multi-sensory (and adrenalin-pumping) experience, 4DX is to cinema what rollercoasters are to theme parks – the ultimate thrill.
Cue Cineworld in Milton Keynes – the first cinema in the UK to launch 4DX. With 140 seats and a 5.8m by 10.5m screen (that's bigger than a double decker bus), it certainly offers more than the average TV. Add the requisite bucket of popcorn and vat of Coke and you’re set for the ride of your cinematic life.
The ‘X’ simply adds another dimension to 4D – it’s a cinema that’s not only about eyes and ears but about kick-starting all your other senses in sync with a Hollywood blockbuster. See a coffee pot on screen? The smell of freshly-brewed coffee magically filters into your midst. Someone jump into a river? Expect a fine spray to wash over you.
This is not about watching, it’s about living the experience. It’s about joining an impeccably-suited Colin Firth in his battle to bring down mega baddie Samuel L Jackson in the premiere of Kingsman: The Secret Service.
With an adrenalin-kicking movement for all the big action and a scent that can bring to life even the simplest of moments, this is truly the future of cinema. Just make sure you buckle up for the ride.
