Charlotte Denn is founder and creative director at children's fashion label What Mother Made. Here she talks phone obsessions, spangly trainers and devoted exhaustion
Number of kids?
Two lovely things.
Worst mothering moment?
Realising I wasn't world's best mother when my son ran out of the Post Office, up the road and wouldn't listen to me daring him to stop 'or else'.
Best mothering moment?
Watching them [her kids] love each other more and more as they get to know each other. Also our eldest learnt how to ride a bike a week ago. Four years of trying, learning and confidence-building and she's now the next Victoria Pendleton!
Dinner party or play date?
Play date followed by a play date for the adults.
Home or away?
I have to say home, although I am partial to a bit of sun.
Canāt live withoutā¦
My phone. Awful I know, but it's essential for me to run my two small business and allow me to be a working-at-home mum. I do get frustrated that I'm never off the b****y thing.
Canāt live withā¦
House plants. I manage to keep everything else in the house alive, luckily.
Whatās the last thing you bought?
Some trendy Nike Airs. I had a meeting at Alexander McQueen and I wanted to fit in. My feet looked good, although not sure about the rest!
Last call?
To my husband to tell him I loved him. And then to tell him I bought my trainers.
Most pukka thing you own?
My kids.
Biggest mothering myth?
A myth for me might be a real problem for others. I'd just say go with what feels natural for you and your kids.
Mothering isā¦
Devoted exhaustion, unconditional love and attention to the point where you're probably falling asleep on your dinner. But every day brings something new to adore.
